Description
Heavy Duty Hitch Lock Protector designed to eliminate access to the hitch lock by means of hammering, prying, sawing, grinding and pipe leverage. The majority of receiver hitch locks are easily defeated with a hammer or pipe slid over the lock and breaking it off. Since the lock pin is only 5/8” in diameter there isn’t much that can be done to make it stronger especially at the lock attachment location. The pin size is reduced to as little as ¼” to provide a place for the lock head to attach to. This makes it very easy to break the lock head mechanism off.
There are many variations of lock designs, but they all face the same problem of weakened shafts at the lock attachment location. By preventing access to the lock head, the size of the shaft no longer matters and tampering with the lock is prevented. By incorporating an anti-rattle feature to the lock protector, you get security along with the elimination of annoying noise created from loose fitting receiver tubes.
To determine which BT10 matches your hitch, measure the size of the receiver tube, it will be 2”, 2.5” or 3”. Then measure how far back the pin hole location is from the face of the receiver hitch, it will be 2” or 2.5”. Select the BT10 that matches your measurements.
