They Tried to Steal an $8,000 Trailer. The BT1 Coupler Lock Had Other Plans.
Customer Testimonial – BT1 Coupler Lock Review
My name is Dustin; I just purchased a tilt bed car hauler trailer for my car lot. It cost me over $8000.00 so I wanted a good high security coupler lock to ensure that someone didn’t decide to relieve me of my new purchase. Before I picked it up, I had been researching coupler locks to see what was available. There are many types and manufactures of coupler locks. Many are made of cheap cast aluminum with hoops or pins that are easily broken with a hammer or pry bar. I wanted something that could not be easily defeated. I looked at several high security rated locks from Proven Technology, Fort Knox locks, Altor and a few others. All of them had good ratings for security but they all had features I didn’t like.
The key access was pointing down, or the lock was cumbersome and made of several pieces that had to be assembled on the coupler, others had hinges or were so heave it took two hands to lift them. I found a lock made by Bank Trailer Security Systems that met all my needs and addressed all my concerns. It is extremely robust, made of ¼” steel, key access in the front, easily accessible without getting down on your knees. All of the parts are connected together requiring no assembly on the trailer. It can easily be installed on my trailer with one hand in only a few seconds. It is impervious to hammers and pry bars and the lock is completely enclosed in the lock housing, eliminating any possibility to be tampered with. So, I purchased the BT1 to fit my 2 5/16” coupler. Along with the lock I purchased a storage bracket to hold the lock when it is not connected to the coupler. This feature is not available from any other lock manufacturer. With lock in hand, I went to pick up my trailer and brought it home to add a few lights and a wench. It was parked in my driveway for a couple of days while I was working on it. On the third day I was working on the trailer and notices some scratches on the tongue of the trailer. It appeared something had gouged the metal around my lock. I immediately went in to check my security cameras and at 2:30 in the morning someone armed with a crowbar tried to pry the coupler lock off the trailer. After about 10 attempts they gave up and left.
“I sure am glad I had the BT1 coupler lock from Bank Trailer Security Systems protecting my trailer or I would not have the trailer today.“
I highly recommend you check out the Locks from Bank Trailer Security Systems. You will not be disappointed. And the storage bracket is a game changer; I never have to wonder where my lock is. Check them out at banktss.com
